Male suspect named in Briarwood Mobile Home Park shooting

On February 6, 2012, at 3:17 p.m., Eugene police officers responded to a call regarding an armed, menacing male suspect.

According to police, the man – who has been identified as Mark Richard Jones, age 31 – fled west through Briarwood Mobile Home Park, 1400 Candlelight Drive, where he was visiting. Then there was an exchange of gunfire between Eugene Police Officer Ryan Molony (a 33-year-old, seven-year EPD veteran) and Jones, who was ultimately shot. Jones was taken to a local hospital, where he is still listed in critical condition.

The Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
