Beat the heat and stay cool at Eugene’s libraries, community centers, and pools

wpools_7 The City of Eugene invites you to cool off in its air-conditioned public spaces. Here’s a list of places from which to choose:

All Eugene library locations are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

In addition the following libraries are open:

  • Downtown library: 100 W. 10th Avenue – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sheldon Branch Library:  Sheldon Shopping Plaza, 1566 Coburg Road – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; closed Sundays.
  • Bethel Branch Library: Echo Hollow Shopping Plaza, 1990 Echo Hollow Road – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; closed Sundays.

 The city’s five community centers operate at different hours:

  • Amazon Center, 2700 Hilyard Street, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., M-F
  • Campbell Center, 155 High Street, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F
  • Hilyard Center, 2580 Hilyard Street, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., M-F
  • Petersen Barn Center, 870 Berntzen Road, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., M-F
  • River House Center, 301 N. Adams Street, Noon – 4 p.m., M-F

The city’s pools are open for recreational swimming daily: 

  • Amazon Pool > 2600 Hilyard Street; Monday-Sunday: 2-5 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday 6:30-8:30 p.m. Call: 541.682.5350.
  • Echo Hollow Pool > 1655 Echo Hollow Road; Monday-Friday: 1:10-3:40 p.m.; 7-8:30 p.m. and Monday-Friday and Sunday: 1:15-3 p.m. Call: 541.682.5525.
  • Sheldon Pool > 2443 Willakenzie Drive; Monday-Friday: 1:40-3:40 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday: 7:35-8:30 p.m.; Friday: 7:30-8:30 p.m.; and Saturday: Noon-2 p.m.

Spray play areas and wading pools are located in the following parks:  

  • Fairmount
  • Oakmont
  • Gilham
  • Friendly
  • Skinner Butte RiverPlay Playground
