The City of Eugene’s “Summer in the City” program continues this week with the Open Studio on Broadway, August 11 at 6 p.m. at Broadway and Willamette.
At this event, Broadway Plaza will be transformed into an outdoor community studio that features both “live art” – artists creating art on location – and “participatory art” – a chance for YOU to create your own art.
A jazz quartet will provide light background music while you witness and participate in creative expression!
Artists and arts organizations include:
| D.I.V.A. | Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art |
| M.E.C.C.A. | Eugene Storefront Art Project |
| Jerry Ross | 12th Ave. Collective |
| Betsy Wolfston | Oregon Art Supply |
| Imagine Gallery | Brina Walker |
| Vistra Framing & Gallery | Dean Slatsky |
The event will also include an Imagination Station, hosted by the Materials Exchange Center for Community Arts (M.E.C.C.A.), where children can create their own themed-art projects such as: stickers, paper-bag hats, headbands, masks, shoe art, and painted faces.
In addition, the Eugene Police Crime Prevention Experts will be on hand to offer the latest tips and programs to help you reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime.
Suggested donation for the Summer in the City downtown events is one can of food or $1 per adult for Relief Nursery.
