by Jaculynn Peterson on July 20, 2010

BiteOfEugene2010 The second annual Century Bank Bite of Eugene will be held on Saturday, July 24, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Alton Baker Park in Eugene.

The Bite of Eugene – a fundraiser for Willamette Farm & Food Coalition – is a celebration of the Eugene area’s local food scene and culinary culture with a focus on sustainability.

Admission to the event is free to the public and includes everything except the food and drink, which will be priced and sold by the more than 40 participating local vendors. Food booths will be offering “bites” of their locally created provisions. In addition to food, beer, wine and spirits will be offered along with non-alcoholic beverages.

The event will also feature a wide array of entertainment including: live music, cooking classes with area chefs, an interactive children’s area, performance art, and a live local “Iron Chef” competition.

“This family-oriented event is a very positive way to allow people to come together in an informal park setting and experience the different unique food vendors, breweries and wineries in our community,” said Tom Widmer, president of Century Bank.

Note: The 2010 “Iron Chef” champion will represent Eugene at the Bite of Oregon’s “Iron Chef Oregon” competition scheduled on August 6 through 8 at Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon.
