Major road construction in the Eugene area for the week of July 19

PylonMajor road construction in the Eugene area continues this week with the following activities, which were shared in a report from Lane County officials:

Goodpasture Island Road: Construction has begun on installing a major culvert crossing under Goodpasture Island Road. The road is closed now through August 12 near the Delta Ponds just north of Kendall Budget Sales. Access will be maintained to all businesses and residences; however there will be no through traffic.

Valley River Drive: Work has begun on the repaving of Valley River Drive from Willakenzie Road to Goodpasture Island Road. Most of the work during the first week will consist of mobilizing equipment and removing and replacing sidewalk access ramps. Heavy paving operations are scheduled to start the week of July 19, with most of that work being done at night.

Barger Drive from Greenhill to Highway 99:  Public Works Maintenance crews will be crack sealing on Barger Drive this week, weather permitting. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures and lane shifts. Use caution and follow directions from flaggers. Expect minor delays.

Willamette Street from 46th Avenue to 52nd Avenue:  Milling off the top layer of asphalt will begin this week. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures and lane shifts. Use caution and follow signs and directions from flaggers. Expect minor delays.

W. 13th Avenue at Monroe and Jefferson – Lane County Fairgrounds Entrances:  Wastewater repairs will involve excavation and paving across W. 13th Avenue at Jefferson and smaller excavations at Monroe. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts. At least one lane of traffic will be allowed at all times. Use alternate routes if possible.

High Street, between Third and 17th avenues:  Striping is scheduled between Third Avenue and 17th Avenue, weather permitting. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts. At least one lane of traffic will be allowed at all times. Expect heavy delays and use alternate routes if possible.

Garfield Street, between Sixth and 11th avenues: Miscellaneous cleanup work is scheduled this week, weather permitting. This work will be done at night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts. Two-way traffic will be allowed at all times. Expect slight delays during night work hours and use alternate routes if possible.

33rd Avenue from Hilyard Street to Willamette Street:  Roto-milling and paving are scheduled for this week, weather permitting. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts.  At times, 33rd Avenue may be open to one-way traffic. Expect heavy delays and use alternate routes if possible.

13th Avenue from Alder Street to Washington Street:  Utility adjustments and ADA sidewalk ramp work is scheduled to begin this week, weather permitting. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts. At least one lane of traffic will be allowed at all times. Expect moderate delays and use alternate routes if possible.

Harlow Road, between Coburg Road and Interstate 5 overpass:  Underground pipe utility work and roto-milling and paving are scheduled from the Garden Way intersection east to the I-5 overpass. Watch for construction equipment traffic, lane closures, and lane shifts. At least one lane of traffic will be open in each direction at all times. Expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

W 18th Avenue, between City View and Chambers:  Repairs, including curb and gutter replacing, and underground pipe utility work will begin this week. Eugene Water & Electric Board and NW Natural Gas crews will continue working on underground utilities. Expect traffic delays between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.

Crest Drive (Blanton Road to intersection with Crest Drive near Morse Family Farm):  Installation of the underground storm system between View Lane and the lower Crest intersection will close the road for all traffic, except those whose only access to their home is on this street. Use caution and follow signs and directions from flaggers. Upon completion of this segment of pipe work, the road reconstruction work will begin at Blanton and work down the hill towards Storey Boulevard. For more information visit the website. see

Storey Boulevard (south intersection with Crest Drive to Lorane Highway):  While work is occurring on Crest Drive, this street should be open for traffic. The southerly intersection with Crest is gravel and very rough. Closures on Crest may impact use of this intersection. Use caution and follow signs and directions from flaggers. Friendly Street (from Lorane Highway to W 28th Avenue:  Roadside work on the sidewalks, driveways and drainage areas may continue along this roadway. The street may be closed to all traffic, except for those whose only access to their home is on this street. Use caution and follow signs and directions from flaggers. Patterson Street (from E 19th Avenue to 24th Avenue) and 23rd Avenue (from Patterson Street to Hilyard Street):  Patterson Street and E 23rd Avenue will continue to be closed within these limits. Traffic will be directed to detour Patterson at 18th Avenue to Pearl Street/Amazon Parkway to 24th Avenue. Traffic may continue south at 24th and Hilyard. For more information visit the website.

Patterson Street (from E 18th Avenue to 19th Avenue) and 18th Avenue (from Patterson Street to Hilyard Street):  These street sections are scheduled to be closed starting this week.  Traffic will be directed to detour Patterson at 18th Avenue to Pearl Street/Amazon Parkway to 24th Avenue. Traffic may continue south at 24th and Hilyard. For more information visit the website.

15th Avenue, between Agate and Moss streets:  The University continues with projects on 15th Avenue and on Moss Street. Closures are prominent throughout this area. Expect traffic delays and use alternate routes if possible.

Lane Transit District

Harlow Road: Portions of the eastbound and westbound right-hand lanes on Harlow Road are closed during daytime hours while crews repave the roadway.

Gateway Street: Northbound and southbound traffic on Gateway Street near Postal Way may be restricted to one lane during daytime hours.

Baldy View Lane:  Baldy View Lane in north Springfield is closed to through-traffic. Traffic should use alternate routes such as Deadmond Ferry Road, Game Farm Road, and the MLK, Jr. Parkway.
