After receiving 35 photo submissions and 1,937 public votes in MyEugene’s “What is NEWS to you?” photo contest, we now have a winner and runner-up!
Congratulations to Faith Cunningham, of Springfield, Oregon, for winning the grand prize!
Faith will receive $150 Cashier’s Check from MyEugene and (1) one yearly subscription to Eugene Magazine. Her winning photo will also be featured in Eugene Magazine’s fall 2010 issue!
- Faith, who enjoys photography, hiking, and swimming, says she titled her (above) photo “Fathers Love,” which features her brother and his newborn son.
- “I am very excited,” said Faith. “I heard about the photo contest through Facebook. I am a fan of MyEugene and the post about the contest came up in my news feed,” said Faith.
Congratulations also to Sarah Mayfield, of Eugene, Oregon, for winning the runner-up prize: a $50 Cashier’s Check from MyEugene and (1) one yearly subscription to Eugene Magazine.
Sarah – who heard about MyEugene’s photo contest on Twitter – is a student at Lane Community College and a member service representative at Pentagon Federal Credit Union. She has owned her own photography business since she was 17 years old.
“I tried to answer the question, “What does news mean to you?” by portraying something sad because, to be honest, that’s how I tend to feel when I read the news,” said Sarah. “I didn’t want my photo to be a complete downer, however, so I tried to come up a way to conceptualize death in a lighter way – hence the matchsticks.”
Thanks to everyone who participated in MyEugene’s “What is NEWS to you?” photo contest!
