Residents are strongly urged to exercise caution when opening their door to strangers.
Today, around 6:30 p.m., Eugene Police responded to the 2000 Block of West 28th Avenue regarding a residential robbery. According to police, the suspect allegedly tried to get the elderly victim and his wife to lie down so that he could tie them up. The suspect stole various items and then fled from the residence on foot heading east on West 28th Avenue.
The suspect was described as a white male, late 20s, 5’6″ tall, and 135-140 lbs. with a slender build, short dark hair, stubble chin. The suspect was wearing a black leather type jacket, a long-sleeve white or cream-colored shirt, black slacks, and black shoes.
Eugene Police officers, including a Lane County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, are currently searching the area for the suspect.
Eugene Police have learned that a man matching the suspect’s description has also contacted other nearby neighbors today in an attempt to talk his way into their homes to talk about faith and religion.
