On May 16, Greenhill Humane Society is hosting its 17th Annual Bark in the Park, a 5K run / 2K walk and pledge drive to raise funds and awareness for the shelter’s efforts to help homeless animals.
The race, which will be held at Alton Baker Park, starts at 9 a.m. (registration begins at 7:00 a.m.).
Pre-registration is $20 or $25 with a Bark in the Park T-shirt. Day of registration is $25 or $30 with a Bark in the Park T-shirt (Note: Race-day registrants are not guaranteed a T-shirt.).
Even though hundreds of dogs and their owners will race for the animals, it is not necessary to bring a dog in order to participate.
The event will also feature a demonstration by the Willamette Agility Group, a performance by the One More Time Marching Band, contests (including Pet/Person Look-alike and Best Pet Trick), refreshments and more!
Register online using the Register for Run/Walk link, in person at Greenhill Humane Society or the Eugene Running Company, or through the mail by downloading the registration form and mailing it in!
Over 400 people have already registered for Bark in the Park – Greenhill’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The shelter is hoping to raise $50,000 to directly support its programs and services.
Greenhill Humane Society was established in 1944. It is a private, non-profit that relies on charitable donations. No government grants or subsidies are received to run the shelter.
