“Jam for Haiti” event will feature eight bands, beer, and plenty of benevolent spirit – all to benefit Doctors Without Borders
It’s a amazing what can happen when people are unified around a common mission. In this case, a group of local people defied the laws of time and space by pulling together a major benefit concert – “Jam for Haiti” – in less than 24 hours.
The event will be held on January 30 at Mac’s at the Vet’s Club, 1626 Willamette, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. A minimum donation of $5 is requested for admission. Everyone who is 21 years of age or older is welcome to attend. Mayor Kitty Piercy is expected to make an appearance around 6 p.m.
Local activist and human rights commissioner for the City of Eugene, Autumn Lovell, is coordinating the event with her friend, Niyah Dotts, with the generous support of local individuals, organizations and groups (see below). Lovell says the response has been extraordinary with several bands volunteering to perform. The line-up includes:
- The People’s Choice
- The Stagger and Sway

- Halie Loren
- Leo London
- Moonbox
- Johnny Kilroy
- The Last Drags
Lovell said that 100 percent of the ticket proceeds, 100 percent of the food profits, and 25 percent of the beer profits would be donated to Doctors Without Borders. “I chose this organization because they promised all of the money would go to Haiti,” she said.
