Eugene Police are investigating a series of as many as 30 small business burglaries.
Police just released this surveillance photo (taken outside of Lucky’s Bar) of one suspect. He is described as a white male in his late 40s or early 50s, with medium- length graying hair, wearing a winter coat and non-descript pants.
Police believe the series of robberies started with one or two individuals and has now expanded to include more individuals or groups. Targets have been hit all around the city, with no clear pattern.
Some of the burglaries involve the ransacking or thefts of safes. Mostly cash and safes have been targeted, but other items have also been taken, including laptops and even an ATM machine.
The first burglaries may have begun around December 1, but it wasn’t until around mid-December that the frequency began to increase. However, for this time of year, it is not unusual to have a crime spike in burglaries and thefts.
If anyone sees suspicious activity or behavior and it is not an emergency, they should call 541.682.5111. There is also a tip line for anyone who has information, 541.682.8888.
