The City of Eugene is partnering with Safe Routes To School for its final “Breakfast at the Bridges” of the summer on Friday, September 18 from 7 to 9:30 am at the Blue Heron Bike Bridge across from César E. Chávez Elementary School. This event will celebrate walking and biking back to school and help students and parents get ready for “Walk and Bike to School” day on October 7.
The event will include free bagels and coffee, waffles and bike-blended smoothies; free bike bells installed on bikes; bike safety checks provided by Revolution Cycles and Arriving By Bike; bike registration provided by the Eugene Police Department; and other bike information provided by the City of Eugene and Safe Routes to School.
The first three “Breakfast at the Bridges” events served more than 150 people in the community, according to Sarah Thorpe of the city’s transportation planning division.
Participating volunteers and local business donors include: Wandering Goat Coffee Company, Starbucks, Springfield Creamery, Bagel Sphere, Off the Waffle, North West Community Credit Union, Collin’s Cycle Shop, Wheel Works, Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life, Revolution Cycles, Arriving by Bike, GEARs, Bike Lane Coalition, and Safe Routes to School.
