by Jaculynn Peterson on July 14, 2009

wbiker1a The City of Eugene is hosting “Breakfast at the Bridges” on Friday, July 17, from 7 to 9:30 am at the Greenway Bike Bridge along the south bank of the Willamette River.

In addition to free breakfast, the event will also include the following services free of charge:

  • bike bell installation on bikes
  • bike safety checks and tune ups provided by Wheel Works
  • bike registration by the Eugene Police Department from 7 am to 8:30 am
  • bike tips and information shared by the City of Eugene and Bike Lane Coalition

This is the second “Breakfast at the Bridges” event held this summer. The event will continue through the summer on the third Friday of each month: August 21 at the DeFazio Bike Bridge, and September 18 at the Blue Heron Bike Bridge. The first “Breakfast at the Bridges” was held June 19 on the Amazon bike path at 24th Avenue and catered to an estimated 50 cyclists.

Volunteers and local business donors helped make this event possible:  Wandering Goat Coffee Company, Springfield Creamery, Bagel Sphere, Collin’s Cycle Shop, Wheel Works, Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life, Revolution Cycles, GEARs, Bike Lane Coalition, and Safe Routes to School.
