Thanks for posting this. I called campus police at my university when a “communications major” from another university close by wanted to sell these magazines so he could get his scholarship with the BBC. It really bothers me that these guys keep popping up. I get at least one every year and I want to spread the word so that kind hearted people know that this is a scam.

Thanks for the heads up. I sent a notice out on Twitter. It also helps to notify the police so they can track this sort of activity.

Just had a run-in with one of these myself (9/18/2010). South of Campus area–he was very aggressive and got angry when I told him I wasn’t interested. He has my name and address–I hope that’s not a problem.

Of course, my bf felt bad for this college kid, so guess what, he gave in and got a magazine subscription for 2 years!!!
And he gave out $50 cash!
I totally remember what he looks like, he was very talkative, and gave him a receipt and everything. Anyway, my bf was duped. Please do not suscribe!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the guys was in the South of Campus area two weeks ago. He was very impatient and short-tempered when asked for details about his “scholarship to the BBC”.
