The Eugene chapter of the Cascadia Green Building Council is hosting a seminar, Social Equity and the Built Environment, on June 5 – 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm – in the Tykeson Room at the Eugene Public Library.
Sustainability is defined by three integrated elements. You may know them as the Three Es (environment, economy, equity), the Three Ps (planet, profit, people), or the Triple Bottom Line (financial, environmental, social). Cascadia says the “equity” element is often neglected and misunderstood:
Across the life cycle of a development project – from site selection to design and construction to occupancy – how equitably are the burdens and benefits of development distributed? As we build for people – the biggest operating cost for any organization – do we fully consider the human side of our building decisions?
Join Jill Fuglister, the co-director of the Portland area’s Coalition for a Livable Future, at this interactive seminar to learn more about the meaning of “equity” and why it’s relevant.
RSVP to Jenna Garmon via email or phone at 541.682.5541. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch.
