Marché manager stops burglar

by Jaculynn Peterson on May 21, 2009

Around 9:30 am today, employees of Marché – a 5th Street Public Market restaurant – discovered John Anthony Russell, in mid burglary, according to Eugene Police.

As Russell – a 43-year-old Eugene resident – attempted to run, the Marché manager chased after him and they both tumbled down the outside stairs. An employee immediately called 9-1-1, while at the same time a traffic enforcement officer on a routine traffic stop, overheard the commotion and observed the struggle. Russell took off running and was intercepted and detained by the traffic officer until additional officers could arrive to take him into custody.

What kind of crappy burglar is breaking into places at 9:30 am? Drink a red bull and rob the place at 2 am like a normal person
