Work crews were busy cleaning up the areas around the Amazon water channel at Jefferson Street today.
Kevin Foerstler, of the City of Eugene Parks and Open Space division, and Deputy Miltonberger, of the Sheriff’s Department, oversaw the cleanup effort, which was threefold:
- Gather and safely dispose of used, discarded hypodermic needles;
- Remove garbage; and
- Cut back overgrown brush and bushes, in an effort to control non-native, invasive plant species and discourage illegal camping
