What’s a spray-play park, you ask? It’s a recreation area that features user-activated fountains and water spray jets.
At the end of 2009, all wading pools in Eugene’s parks will close permanently as a result of changing state health regulations. So, the City of Eugene – in partnership with the Eugene Parks Foundation – plans to convert these pools to spray-play parks. The first conversion is scheduled for Washington Park.
You are invited to a public workshop Thursday, February 19 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Washington Park Center, 2025 Washington Street in Eugene to learn more about the project and share your thoughts and ideas. Participants will enjoy music and light refreshments.
The Eugene Parks Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and enhancing our community’s parks, open spaces, recreational facilities and services.

I love the idea.
I love the idea too. Looking forward to conversion of the pool in Sladden Park in Whiteaker — which might even get me out to play. I’m sure my daughter would have loved it, if it were in place when she was little. Delightful and perfectly affordable for everyone.
